This little known gem of country offers a truly authentic experience in the heart of Africa. Dominated by the vast Lake Malawi, the country offers many scenic highlights, from beaches and lakeshores villages, to majestic mountains and plateaus with bracing air, rolling hills and magnificent rivers and wetlands. With its sparkling waters and diverse fish life, Lake Malawi is a magnet for travellers. Along the lake's white sand beaches are excellent resorts, from where you can dive or snorkel in aquarium-like surrounds, or else explore the lake by catamaran or kayak. Lake Malawi National Park is a World Heritage Site and offers close up viewing of dazzling fresh-water fish.

Island Idyll (7 days)

This idyllic safari takes place at 2 tented wilderness camps on the tropical isles of Mumbo and Domwe. Spend a night at Club Makokola on the southern tip of the lake before transferring to Mumbo and Domwe of 5 days of sea kayaking, scuba-diving, swimming, snorkelling, walking, fishing or simply relaxing. Spend your last night at Club Makokola before returning home.

Kaya Mawa Romance (5 days)

Escape from the world to Kaya Mawa, an exclusive getaway situated on a rocky peninsula on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi. This enchanting car-free island, with it's trails and pristine beaches, is a haven of tranquillity. Kaya Mawa's 8 cottages are tucked away, with stunning views over the lake. The Honeymoon Island is reached by it's own boat, and offers total seclusion, with its cottage blending into giant granite rocks.

In the remote northern region of Malawi, 2 contrasting reserves, Nyika National Park and the Vwaza Marsh Game Reserve, embrace stunning scenery, wildlife and wilderness. Mountainous Nyika Plateau is one of Africa's most scenic parks, with its mountain grasslands dotted with animals. The hot rugged bushveld of the Vwaza Marsh Game reserve offers a marked contrast to the highlands, with it's large variety of wildlife and birds.
