Situated on the lush lower slopes of Mount Kenya at Nanyuki, the Mount Kenya Safari Club offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure. Set amongst manicured lawns, ornamental ponds, flowerbeds, this famous retreat exudes quiet elegance against a dramatic backdrop. Mount Kenya has a total of 114 rooms, comprising two villas, 13 riverside and 12 William Holden cottages, eight garden suites, clubrooms and studio suites. All rooms have a private bathroom with shower, telephone, minibar and log fireplace. The luxury villas, William Holden cottages and the presidential suite each have a large sitting room.
Most rooms have a private veranda overlooking the majestic Mount Kenya. There is a choice of two dining rooms, the Mawingo and the Kirinyaga. There are also two bars, the Zebra Bar and the Trophy Lounge, which has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and is the ideal setting for cocktail parties. Nightly, guests are treated to a performance by the traditional Chukka drummers at the bar. There is a heated swimming pool, tennis court, horse riding, putting green, nine-hole golf course, bowls, croquet, trout fishing, art gallery, health and beauty centre, club shops and bush dinners are arranged on the banks of the River Likii.
Located 320km north of Nairobi, Larsen's is a small luxurious tented camp set in lush lawns on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro, a river in Samburu National Reserve. The 17 tents each shaded by palm trees and named after a bird, have en suite bathrooms and all face the river.
There are birds and monkeys everywhere and dik dik's wander freely around the camp. An animal viewing platform in the trees lets you scan the vast Samburu Plain. In the heat of the day you can relax on your private deck while the monkeys play in the trees around you and animals drink from the opposite bank.
