Other facilities include a dining area where a wide range of mouth-watering specialties are served and a bar where the relaxed and friendly atmosphere creates an ideal place to spend a quite afternoon and cool evenings. A curio shop and swimming pool are also available. Wide, well-lit pathways link guest rooms and public areas. The 84 guest rooms are arranged in clusters of six and made with natural wood and stone.
All rooms have en suite tiled bathrooms with showers, a private verandah and uninterrupted view of the river. As the rooms are spacious they can easily accommodate an extra bed where necessary. The lodge offers lectures and slide shows by the resident naturalist, traditional Maasai dancing and evening entertainment by the resident guitarist. Game drives, walking and birding safaris, balloon safaris, bush dining and sundowners at the river can be arranged at an additional cost. Sekanani Camp, Masai MaraSituated just outside the Masai Mara National Reserve, Sekenani has an unusual setting on the side of a grassy ridge with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and plains beyond. Sekenani is small and simple with basic facilities and a feeling of exclusivity and personal attention. A suspension bridge leads to the dining area; which is a log and canvas structure open at both ends to permit maximum air and light. There is a wide open terrace off the dining area with tables and chairs where there is yet another view point where guests can sit and relax and watch the animals feeding on the plains below. The camp has 15 tents, all raised off the ground on wooden platforms and set well apart amidst lush vegetation. Attractively furnished, they are lit at night by the gentle light of hurricane lamps. Each tent has a writing table, an open hanging clothes unit, a private verandah and an en suite bathroom with bath and shower facilities and hot and cold water. The camp offers game drives, nature walks, bush dining and sundowners. An observatory, built from local river rock and overlooking a stream in an ideal spot to observe animals coming to drink as well as the great variety of birds. Balloon safaris over the Mara and fishing trips to Lake Victoria can be arranged at an extra cost. |
